Our Future Will Be Flexible Thanks To The Graphene

LONDON – So far Graphene has been just a name for scientists but in near feature it could be something direct connected to our life. Currently Graphene is the strongest material in the world but completely flexible, and its amazing skill is more conductive than copper. Discovered just under a decade ago, the supermaterial potentially has some unbelievable applications for us in the not so distant future.

Graphene is pure carbon in the form of a very thin, nearly transparent sheet, one atom thick. It is remarkably strong for its very low weight (100 times stronger than steel) and it conducts heat and electricity with great efficiency.

alessandro-allocca-graphene-2We could use stuff made from Graphene in our every daily activity, from the possibility to charge a mobile phone in few seconds to exchange one terabit of date in just one second. The most successful Graphene application could be in the medicine field: it could pave the way for bionic devices in living tissues that could be connected directly to your neurons. So people with spinal injuries, for example, could re-learn how to use their limbs.

The Graphene global market worth is about $9 million by 2014 with most of these sales being concentrated in the semiconductor, electronics and battery energy and composites. (A.A)
